As firm Principal, Mr. Sassano is responsible for oversight on all phases of a project, from inception to completion. He brings 30 years of experience with projects ranging from the very small, to the very large and complex. Specifically, Mr. Sassano focuses on the coordination and integration of architectural elements with all other building elements. This insures that creative problem solving is applied throughout all aspects of the design phase, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing elements. Mr. Sassano also insures that project architects and engineering consultants are well informed about what each is responsible for and about the overall design goals of the project.
Prior to joining Herring & Trowbridge in 2013, Mr. Sassano worked in South Bend Indiana. In addition to practicing architecture, he taught at the University of Notre Dame and Andrew’s University, served on the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Historic Preservation Commission of St. Joseph County, IN, and spent several years as a volunteer high-school football coach.
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Sassano moved to New York City, where he practiced for 9 years. During this time he worked on several award winning projects.
Mr. Sassano is a Registered Architect and member of the American Institute of Architects.
Mr. Siegfried has 35 years of architectural experience . He joined Herring & Trowbridge in 1996,. Mr. Siegfried has led numerous projects ranging from master planning to design of office buildings, office warehouses, retail centers and professional and medical projects, as well as multi-unit, assisted living housing.
Most recently, Mr. Siegfried has been responsible for the design of Belvoir Corporate Office Buildings, and has been intimately involved in all phases of the Digital Realty Loudoun North Campus. Prior to this work, he was the Project Designer and Manager for the first of 15 projects in the 350-acre Atwater Office Park; the Diamond Shamrock Headquarters in San Antonio, a 210,000 sq. ft. corporate headquarters; Memorial City Medical Professional Building III, a 12 story, 300,000 sq. ft. medical office center with a seven level garage in Houston, TX; a 250,000 sq. ft. office & manufacturing warehouse for K*TEC Electronics; The Terrace, a 560 unit Retirement Living Community in Houston, TX; Reston Crescent Phase One, a six story, 195,000 sq. ft. office building in Reston, VA; and Westbrook Corporate Center, a three story 200,000 sq. ft. office building.
Mr. Siegfried received his Eidg. Fähigkeitszeugnis als Gelernter Hochbauzeichner (Hochbauzeichner Degree) from the Hochbauzeichner Schule in Zurich. He is a registered Architect in Switzerland.
Mr. Siegfried is also an accomplished competitive cyclist.
NICOLE STEELE (BAHNIJ)
Ms. Bahnij has been practicing architecture for 10 years. She joined Herring and Trowbridge in 2012. In addition to the numerous large scale data center projects she has designed, she has also been involved in a 2 building office campus and a 116,000 square foot warehouse for the Department of State. Her earlier career included three years in Cleveland, Ohio where she completed multiple JCPenney buildings, mall renovations, and open air lifestyle centers. Prior to joining Herring & Trowbridge, Ms. Bahnij was a Project Designer for a small firm in Arlington, Virginia. During this time, she aided on projects including an office renovation for the Department of Homeland Security, the 100,000 square foot Arlington, Army Navy Country Club, and Fairfax County Public School feasibility booklets.
Ms. Bahnij’s career has been shaped by both her diverse projects types and education which has led to her innovative and holistic approach to solving unique design challenges. Her overall project success is directly related to her proactive approach to understanding the project design criteria, her attention to detail, and her motivation to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction.
Ms. Bahnij has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Computer Science from the University of Mary Washington, and a Masters Degree in Architecture from The Catholic University of America.
Ms. Bahnij is a Registered Architect, and member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGCB).
Mr. Alicandro joined Herring & Trowbridge in 2016 as a senior architect. As a results-oriented leader, Steve offers over 30 years of diverse management, marketing and design experience. He has been a key strategic player and tactical planner while working with owners, developers, and A/E consultants through all phases of project delivery including IPD. He possesses excellent design, planning, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, to solve problems and to achieve successful results. In addition to previously managing architectural practices for national firms, he has over 25 years experience designing and managing a wide variety of projects involving large scale development, industrial, mixed use, senior housing, office, health care and multifamily. Representative projects include: Philips Corporate Office Campus, Andover, MA. The master plan in a suburban setting involved over 500,000 SF of office space located in 5 buildings with underground parking. The remaining parcel of a 25 acre site including 450 residential units in a series of neighborhood settings. Sharon Hills Senior Living CCRC, Sharon, MA. Located in a suburban, campus setting, this624-unit, luxury senior living community consisted of 6 mid-rise and high-rise structures on a raised, green-roof podium. Vanity Fair Redevelopment, Reading, PA. Redevelopment of the existing Reading Outlet Center. The Master Plan proposed re-positioning 10 retail and office buildings in more of a town center format of upscale retail, multifamily apartments, and office. Vienna Metro West, Vienna, VA. Developed the hi-rise portion of a walkable town center which included over 600 housing units, retail, and public park amenity space. Anacostia Gateway, Washington, DC. New build to suit office complex for Washington DDOT
Mr. Alicandro has an Architectural Degree from the University of Notre Dame, and an MS Business, Real Estate Development from Johns Hopkins.
Mr. Alicandro is a Registered Architect, and a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Urban Land Institute.
Ms. Nukta is the newest member of the Herring & Trowbridge team. She brings 10 years of experience on large scale commercial projects where she has developed her skills in construction detailing, project coordination, creative problem solving, and communication in a fast paced technically challenging environment. Projects in which Ms. Nukta has been involved in design and construction include the New Doha International Airport, the Qatar National Convention Center, the Tornado Tower, and Sports City Tower & Torch Hotel, all in Doha, Qatar.
Ms. Nukta holds a bachelor of Architectural Engineering Degree from University of Damascus. While an undergraduate she worked on the surveying and development of documentation for the restoration of Damascus’ Old City. She is a member of the Syrian Engineers Association.
